So my '87 D50 wont pass smog. Just tested yesterday and it failed again but I'm getting close. I'm high in CO and thats it.

I changed the Cat 4 or 6 years ago with a bolt on $85 dollar cat similar to the Magnaflo

I find out that CA has now made those cats non CA compliant. I can still order an install one but it's probably going to be good for only a year and a shop could fail me cuz there is no CA compliant label. The Ca legal one I assume will help me pass better and get my CO numbers down.

The CA compliant cat is of course $230 at the cheapest for bolt on or $180 weld on.

Any benefits of weld on than bolt on? Mine is bolt on now so I have all the parts and it's probably a 30 min job.

Any chance getting the cheap $80 bolt on is a good idea? The Ca legal has a 30000 warranty and will probably last two more smog tests anyway.

the ca cat is a better cat it cost more cuz it burns off more stuff than the 80$ one it is also possible it wont pass inspection with a 80$ cat due to numbers that are on the cat an weld it on so theres no leaks an keep the tweeks for steeling it lol
