Hey all! I'm a long time mitsu owner. I have owned 2 3000gt's(dodge stealth's), 2 eclipses and a talon (GST, GSX, TSI). I currently own an 03 Lancer Evolution 8, and a 91 Dodge Stealth R/T. I'm thinking about getting a max or d50. Normally i refer to wiki for a little info to learn a bit about options, but there isn't much there. So my question is.... what is the preferred year and motor (Stock motors)?

(I'm guessing from having a 4g64 it can get a 4g63 motor. I think I also read on wiki it has a 6g72 my guess a sohc, can a dohc 3kgt swap?)

I'm also interested in 4 wheel drive. please help me in the right direction to get a max/d. thanks!! :D

If you are planning on doing a 4g63t swap and want a truck that comes with a tranny that bolts up to it then you want an 87-89 with a 2.0L manual. If not then you want a 90+ with a 4g64 2.4. You can put the 4g63t head on this block with some mods to some stuff and timing components, etc.. You cannot bolt up the 4g63t to the truck 4g64 tranny though if you go that route, it only bolts up to the narrow block tranny that comes with the 5spd 2.0.

Yes, the 90+ 4wd trucks came with a 6g72 sohc, I'm assuming you can do a DOHC 6g72 swap(even twin turbo) and it should bolt up just fine to the tranny, and you will have 4wd.

so what about just stock. I might also be hauling like a small trailer (jetski size). Another thing... what about the diesel motors?

If stock I would get a 90+ 2.4 if you want 2wd or 3.0 if you want 4wd
